Where Passionate Educators Come to Grow, Lead, and Thrive.

At Divergent Education, we build solutions for the educators who care deeply, think critically, and refuse to settle for outdated systems.

Our mission is clear: to champion child safety, uplift the workforce, and equip early childhood professionals with the tools, support, and real-world knowledge they need to thrive.

We’re not here to tick boxes. We’re here to challenge the status quo, reimagine professional development, and create safer, more empowered learning environments for children and educators alike.

Our name, Divergent Education, reflects our belief that doing things differently isn’t a risk, it’s a necessity. Every educator, every centre, and every child is unique. That’s why we offer flexible tools, meaningful content, and community-driven guidance designed to evolve with you.

If you're passionate about creating a better future in early childhood education, you’re in the right place.

About Miss Chey

I’m Chey Carter, the founder of Divergent Education and a lifelong advocate for safer, stronger, and more progressive early childhood education in Australia.

With over a decade of frontline experience from trainee educator to area manager, I know the weight educators carry and the risks children face when systems fail. That’s why Divergent Education doesn’t just offer products; we lead conversations, build community, and drive systemic change.

As a vocal advocate for child safety and workforce wellbeing, I’ve contributed to various ECEC inquiries and regularly collaborate with media, policymakers, and the public to expose gaps in childcare regulation and push for reform.

But my advocacy doesn’t stop behind closed doors. Through my TikTok channel (@misschey), I’ve built a community of passionate educators with whom I share content demystifying regulations, explaining workplace rights, and sharing practical guidance that improves both practice and culture.

This work is more than professional—it’s personal. I believe every child deserves a safe, nurturing start, and every educator deserves the tools and respect to provide it. Divergent Education exists to make that vision a reality.

Why “Divergent” Education?

The name is a tribute to the power of difference.

Through our own Neurodivergent experiences, we’ve learnt first-hand that the ideas which change the game rarely come from the centre of the path… they spring from the edges. “Divergent” honours those edge perspectives: the quick lateral leaps, the creative sparks, the ability to see patterns others miss.

We celebrate neurodiversity because recognising and valuing unique wiring doesn’t just make education more inclusive, it drives better solutions for children, families, and educators alike. By championing the unconventional, we unlock bold thinking, cultivate empathy, and prove that when different minds are given the freedom to contribute, schools, workplaces, and whole communities thrive.
